General Questions
Physiotherapy is a science-based profession and physiotherapists use their knowledge and skills to improve a range of conditions associated with different systems of the body, such as:
- Neurological (stroke, Parkinson’s)
- Neuromusculoskeletal (back pain, whiplash, sports injuries, arthritis)
- Cardiovascular (chronic heart disease, rehabilitation after heart attack)
- Respiratory (asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
Physiotherapy is an integral part of the services recommended by Consultants and GPs in Malaysia. Professional standards within the sector are extremely high and are established by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Malaysian Physiotherapy Association (MPA).

Typically 45 mins to an hour.
First time patients are advised to check in 5-10 minutes earlier to fill out a registration and medical screening form. The attending physiotherapist will then carry out a thorough assessment by first asking questions about your condition followed by a physical assessment of the identified body part. This initial assessment gives your therapist a better picture of your condition so that the appropriate treatments can be administered. As a result of the initial assessment, your first physiotherapy appointment will be slightly longer than subsequent sessions, it will usually take about an hour or slightly over an hour.
